Pappu Yadav, a politician, alleged an assassination attempt at his Delhi residence on Sunday, saying he was threatened with death during a scuffle. He described the incident as a bid to kill him.
The incident followed Yadav's participation in an Opposition skit related to Ram Mandir donations. BJP leaders had filed complaints against him for hurting religious sentiments.
Yadav said he had been receiving threats. According to him, a religious figure had said that if his parliamentary membership was not revoked, he should be burnt alive. Another person had announced a reward of Rs 51 lakh for anyone who killed him.
Later, a clash erupted at a press meet held by Yadav, and a man carrying a knife was detained. Police are investigating the reported events.
