DMK leader Udhayanidhi Stalin was detained in Thanjavur on Tuesday and will be released after police complete questioning, following Madras High Court directives. The detention is linked to his remarks about actress Trisha, which have been criticized as offensive and featuring a double entendre.
Stalin rejected the allegations, insisting his words had only one meaning. He alleged that the Vijay-led government edited his speech to divert attention from the Cauvery issue, and dismissed Vijay's TVK as a circus.
Actor and BJP leader Khushbu Sundar also slammed Stalin over the remark, challenging his manhood in a sharp response. The controversy has drawn political attention in Tamil Nadu.
