By TrendingWire Newsroom

A 53-year-old woman from Hong Kong was killed and five other people were injured in a head-on car crash in Japan's Hokkaido prefecture on Monday. The accident occurred around 3:30 p.m. local time on National Route 38 in Furano, a city in central Hokkaido. According to Japanese media reports, a rental car carrying a family of four from Hong Kong crossed into the opposite lane and collided head-on with another passenger vehicle carrying two Japanese nationals. The woman, who was in the rental car, died from her injuries. The five others—three from the Hong Kong family and the two Japanese individuals—were taken to a hospital with injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening.
