Saudi Weather Agency Warns of Thunderstorms Across Multiple Regions Until Saturday

Thunderstorms are expected to continue across several parts of Saudi Arabia from Sunday through Saturday, according to the National Center for Meteorology (NCM). The forecast, based on the Saudi Numerical Model, predicts varying intensities of rain across different regions. Light rain will begin on Sunday afternoon in the southernmost areas of Asir, lasting only briefly before clearing. Rain will return on Tuesday afternoon, initially moderate in southern and northwestern Asir, then gradually moving southward and weakening. Light showers will continue in southern Asir until early Wednesday. By Wednesday afternoon, light to moderate rain will spread over much of southern Asir, including areas around Abha and the southwestern parts of the Riyadh Region. Heavier rain is expected in Taif in the Makkah Region, ending by early Wednesday evening. Showers will then extend into Jazan and the Farasan Islands, continuing until early Thursday. Thursday morning will see a brief clearance before heavy rain returns to southern Asir, later spreading northward into western Najran and southern Riyadh. The rain will intensify in eastern Jazan and southern Asir on Thursday afternoon, then gradually weaken and become scattered, disappearing by early Friday. On Friday, light scattered showers will affect western Najran and much of Jazan, including the Farasan Islands. Heavy rain will hit Abha in the afternoon before spreading across Asir, weakening by evening. Light showers will continue over Abha and eastern Jazan until early Saturday. Saturday afternoon will bring light rain to southern Asir and southeastern Jazan, intensifying and spreading before finally weakening and ending by evening.
