Tripura Police Chief Found Dead, Investigation Ordered
By TrendingWire Newsroom
The director general of police (DGP) of Tripura, Anurag Dhankar, was found dead in his office restroom on Monday. Authorities have launched a magisterial inquiry into the incident. The state government declared one day of mourning in honor of the senior officer.
Additional DGP Goduguluri Srinivasa Rao has been appointed as acting police chief. Investigators are examining all circumstances surrounding the death, including reports of a potential note left behind. No further details about the cause of death have been released.
Dhankar, a senior Indian Police Service officer, had previously led investigations into the 1984 anti-Sikh riots in Delhi. His sudden death has shocked the state police force and the wider community.
The police have urged the public to wait for the official inquiry results before drawing conclusions.
