Keely Hodgkinson qualified for the women's 800m final at the European Championships in Birmingham by winning her semi-final, while hot favourite Audrey Werro suffered a dramatic fall.
Hodgkinson, of Great Britain, controlled the race and led home Femke Broeders-Bol of the Netherlands to secure her place in the final. Werro, who had been expected to challenge strongly, stumbled and finished last, leaving her participation in the final in doubt.
Fellow Briton Jemma Reekie also competed in the semi-finals, though her result was not immediately clear.
The European Championships continue with the 800m final, where Hodgkinson will aim to add to her medal collection.
