A Delhi court has acquitted former BJP MP and Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) chief Brij Bhushan in a sexual harassment case filed by women wrestlers. Co-accused Vinod Tumar was also acquitted. The case dates back to January 2023, when Olympians Vinesh Phogat, Sakshi Malik and Bajrang Punia launched a protest at Jantar Mantar, accusing Bhushan of sexual exploitation and intimidation.
After the verdict, Phogat said the fight for justice was not over and the wrestlers would not give up. She also alleged that the entire system was working to protect Bhushan. Bhushan, speaking after the acquittal, said he was happy and that the wrestlers would tell about their pain. The WFI chief described the acquittal as a slap in the opponents' face.
