Iran Strikes US Military Bases in Three Countries After American Bombing Campaign

By TrendingWire Newsroom

Iran launched attacks on US military bases in Bahrain, Kuwait, and Jordan early Tuesday, retaliating for 10 consecutive nights of American airstrikes. The Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps said it destroyed radar and air defense systems in Bahrain's Muharraq area and a Patriot system in Al-Riffa. Drones also struck the Sheikh Isa base used by the US Navy's Fifth Fleet. In Kuwait, Iran targeted radar, communications, and missile defense infrastructure at Ahmed Al-Jaber and Ali Al Salem airbases. In Jordan, an attack destroyed a missile defense radar and an F-15 fighter jet inside a shelter, according to Iranian statements. The US military said its latest bombardment lasted about five hours and hit Iranian command centers, missile sites, and naval capabilities. The strikes are part of a wider conflict that began with US-Israeli attacks on Iran on February 28. A June agreement between Washington and Tehran to end operations collapsed after the US resumed attacks and restored a naval blockade. Iran then closed the Strait of Hormuz again. Two tankers were hit in the waterway, causing fires, but no casualties were reported. US Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer called for an end to the war, saying Democrats would force another vote to stop military operations. Oil prices fell slightly amid reports of new mediation efforts.
