The Toronto International Film Festival has announced the first round of honorees for its eighth annual TIFF Tribute Awards, set for Sept. 13. The five recipients are actress Penélope Cruz, filmmaker Lee Chang-dong, actress Rosalind Eleazar, writer-director Siân Heder, and actress Isabelle Huppert. Cruz, who appears in two films at this year's festival—"La Bola Negra" and Florian Zeller's "Bunker"—will receive the TIFF Special Tribute Award. Heder, the Oscar-winning director of "CODA," is among the honorees. South Korean director Lee Chang-dong, known for films such as "Burning," will also be recognized. Eleazar stars in the series "Misty Green." Huppert, a renowned French actress, completes the list. The gala serves as the festival's annual fundraiser, celebrating outstanding achievements in film. Additional honorees are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
