YSRCP Leader Accuses Government of Neglecting Handloom Weavers

By TrendingWire Newsroom

A YSRCP leader has accused the state government of betraying handloom weavers by cutting support and weakening the main cooperative body. MLC Hanumantha Rao said the number of beneficiaries under assistance schemes has been significantly reduced. He also claimed the government has deliberately weakened APCO, the state handloom weavers' cooperative society. Rao alleged that these actions show a lack of concern for the traditional weaving community. Handloom weavers in the state have long relied on government schemes and APCO for their livelihoods. The reduction in beneficiaries means fewer weavers get financial help for raw materials and marketing. Weakening APCO, which serves as a key support system, has made it harder for weavers to sell their products at fair prices. Rao called on the government to restore full support and protect the handloom sector. The government has not yet responded to the allegations.
