India’s First Private Orbital Rocket, Vikram-1, Set for Launch
By TrendingWire Newsroom
India’s first privately developed orbital-class rocket, named Vikram-1, is ready for its debut flight. The rocket stands seven stories tall and is built using an all-carbon composite structure, making it lightweight and strong. Its propulsion systems were developed in-house, marking a major milestone for the country’s private space industry.
Vikram-1 is a multi-stage launch vehicle designed to carry small satellites into low Earth orbit. It was built by a private startup, reflecting India’s growing role in the commercial space sector. The rocket’s carbon composite body reduces weight and improves efficiency, while the homegrown engines provide reliable thrust.
The development of Vikram-1 shows how private companies are now able to build advanced rockets that were once only made by government agencies. This could lower the cost of launching satellites and make space more accessible for businesses and researchers.
Preparations for the first launch are underway. If successful, Vikram-1 will be a major step forward for India’s space ambitions and a boost for the country’s private aerospace industry.
