Amarnath and Vaishno Devi Pilgrimages Suspended from July 19 Due to Bad Weather

By TrendingWire Newsroom

The annual pilgrimages to the Shri Amarnathji shrine and the Vaishno Devi temple will be temporarily halted starting July 19. The decision comes as a precautionary measure after the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a forecast of inclement weather in the region. Kashmir Divisional Commissioner stated that the Amarnath Yatra will be suspended from both the Pahalgam and Baltal routes. Similarly, authorities have also decided to stop the Vaishno Devi pilgrimage for the same period. The move aims to ensure the safety and well-being of thousands of pilgrims who undertake these journeys every year. Both yatras attract a large number of devotees from across the country. The Amarnath Yatra involves a challenging trek to a cave shrine in the Himalayas, while the Vaishno Devi pilgrimage requires a climb to a hilltop temple in Jammu and Kashmir. Weather conditions in the region can change rapidly, and heavy rainfall or landslides pose risks to pilgrims. Officials said the suspension will remain in effect until weather conditions improve. Pilgrims are advised to stay updated through official channels and postpone their travel plans accordingly. The decision has been taken purely as a safety measure, and further announcements will be made based on IMD updates.
