Netanyahu made the statement in an interview with Fox News, asserting that he is “definitely going” and that he intends to “speak the truth” in front of what he called a “hate-spewing elected official.” The Israeli premier accused Mamdani of dividing New Yorkers and targeting the city’s Jewish residents. Last week, Mamdani released a video message describing Netanyahu as a “war criminal” and urging the U.S. government to enforce the ICC warrant if Netanyahu enters the country. Mamdani said the ICC issued the warrant for a reason and that Netanyahu should face a court of law for the devastation he has caused. The ICC warrant, issued in connection with the Gaza conflict, has not been acted upon by the United States, which does not recognize the court's jurisdiction. Netanyahu’s visit is expected to draw protests and legal challenges from human rights groups. The mayor’s office has not indicated whether it will take any steps to detain Netanyahu, as the ICC warrant is not enforceable by local authorities.
