Spain is sending divers, drones and security reinforcements to Ceuta and has started installing a floating barrier on its sea border with Morocco, after a surge of tens of thousands of migrants into the North African territory.
Spanish authorities said Saturday that the floating barrier was being installed on the sea border, part of a wider response to what they called the largest mass migrant crossing the territory has seen. Most of the estimated 60,000 people who rushed into Ceuta have already returned to Morocco, authorities said.
The reinforcements, due to be dispatched within hours, include eight divers, a boat and drones. Authorities have reported at least 72 deaths, as of August 2.
