Bihar Model School Colour Sparks Political Clash
By TrendingWire Newsroom
A new initiative to paint 500 model schools in Bihar has triggered a political controversy. Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary inaugurated the first such school in Begusarai on Sunday. The education department has chosen a shade called 'Sunrise' (color code 0526) for the buildings, with doors painted gold brown. Critics say the colour closely resembles saffron, which is associated with a particular religion. Opposition parties have accused the state government of pushing a religious agenda through this move. They argue that public institutions should remain neutral in their appearance. The government, however, defends the decision, stating that 'Sunrise' is simply a bright and welcoming colour for students. Officials say the aim is to create a uniform identity for model schools across the state. The project covers 500 schools that are being upgraded under the Bihar Vikas Yojana. The political row has intensified in recent days, with both sides exchanging barbs. Some local residents have also expressed mixed views. The matter is expected to be raised in the state assembly. This is not the first time colour choices have sparked debate in Indian politics. Previous instances include disputes over uniform colours in other states. The government insists that the colour code was selected based on aesthetic and practical considerations. It remains to be seen how the controversy will unfold.
