Toy Story 5 and theme parks powered Disney's latest quarter, the company said. Disney also announced it will use $1 billion from the sale of A+E to buy back its own stock, move its consumer products unit under its entertainment division, and teases a new era for its Disney+ streaming service early next year.
In a separate partnership, the Li Ka Shing Foundation, founded by Hong Kong tycoon Li Ka-shing, said on Tuesday it has teamed up with Disney to offer 24,000 foreign domestic helpers free tickets to watch Toy Story 5. Screenings will be held across six local cinemas over four consecutive Sundays in August. Attendees will also receive free popcorn and drinks. The foundation said the collaboration is the latest between the two organizations to support Hong Kong's migrant workers.
