Indian Startup Skyroot Aerospace Successfully Launches Vikram-1 Rocket

By TrendingWire Newsroom

India has entered a new chapter in private space exploration. On Saturday, Hyderabad-based startup Skyroot Aerospace successfully launched its Vikram-1 rocket into low Earth orbit, despite a 35-minute delay. The mission, named Aagaman, placed six payloads into their intended orbits. This achievement makes India the third country in the world, after the United States and Russia, to have a private company achieve orbital launch capability. The successful launch on its first attempt marks a significant milestone for India's private space industry. Skyroot Aerospace, founded in 2018, aims to provide affordable and reliable satellite launch services. The Vikram-1 rocket is a three-stage, solid-fueled vehicle capable of carrying up to 300 kilograms to low Earth orbit. The company's next goal is to scale up operations and attract commercial customers. This launch demonstrates the growing capabilities of India's private sector in space technology, which was previously dominated by the government's Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). The success is expected to boost investor confidence and encourage more startups in the space sector. The payloads on board include satellites from various organizations, though specific details were not disclosed. Skyroot Aerospace plans to conduct more launches in the coming months.
