A salmonella outbreak linked to jalapeños served at Chipotle and other restaurants has spread to 27 states, with at least 110 people sickened in Minnesota alone, according to reports. The jalapeños were supplied by California-based Coast Citrus Distributors and sourced from Mexico, and were served at Chipotle Mexican Grill, Qdoba and other restaurants. The vast majority of those who fell ill in Minnesota reported having eaten at Chipotle. Separately, a Minnesota woman has sued Chipotle after being hospitalized with what she says was a life-threatening complication of the salmonella infection. The lawsuit alleges the food was grossly contaminated. Investigators are looking into the source of the outbreak.
