According to a Washington Post report, President Donald Trump confronted Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth over a critical shortage of munitions in the war with Iran. Trump demanded answers during a cabinet meeting last week after learning the deficit in vital weapons had not been addressed. The shortage was cited as one reason Trump paused large-scale strikes on Iran. Hegseth, defending himself, blamed Deputy Defense Secretary Stephen Feinberg for the shortages and for not ensuring Trump was fully informed.
The White House denied the report. Press secretary Karoline Leavitt dismissed it as fake news and said Trump has full confidence in Hegseth.
Separately, India raised the windfall tax on exports of petrol to 3.5 rupees per litre from 2.5 rupees, a move taken amid the Iran war.
