Sonam Wangchuk Continues Hunger Strike, Calls for Peaceful Resolution of Student Protests

Climate activist Sonam Wangchuk has vowed to continue his hunger strike, expressing solidarity with student protesters in Delhi. In a handwritten message shared by his wife, Wangchuk offered support to demonstrators under the banner of the Cockroach Janta Party. The protest, involving thousands of students marching to Parliament, demanded the resignation of the Education Minister over alleged examination irregularities. Authorities used tear gas and force to disperse the crowd, detaining several participants. Wangchuk condemned what he described as harsh treatment of peaceful protesters and urged the government and police to allow students to present their grievances without violence. He called for youth leaders to meet with parliamentarians or, if that is not possible, for him to be permitted to meet them directly. The activist stressed the need for dialogue and a peaceful resolution to the ongoing tensions. Wangchuk's hunger strike continues as he seeks to draw attention to the students' demands and the response they have faced.
