The Canadian government has announced urgent assistance for British Columbia, where fast-moving wildfires have forced about 22,000 people to flee their homes. The BC Wildfire Service reports that 102 wildfires were burning across the province on Sunday, with nearly half classified as out of control. Of those, 78 ignited during the past week. Firefighters are battling the blazes day and night, but the fires are spreading so quickly that their efforts are being hampered. In the United States, wildfires in Washington state and California have damaged over a thousand structures, and thousands of residents in Washington state have also been forced to evacuate.
