Hassan Qashqavi, spokesperson for Iran's parliamentary National Security Committee, said Tehran is close to reaching an agreement with Oman. He also confirmed that mediators were seeking to revive a memorandum of understanding with Washington.
A US official said on Friday that the agreement was close and could soon reopen the strait, which carried a fifth of global oil and liquefied natural gas shipments before Iran blocked it in response to US and Israeli attacks. The blockade has disrupted global shipping and fueled months of conflict.
