The Houston Astros defeated the Toronto Blue Jays 7-2 on Tuesday night, powered by Taylor Trammell's three-run homer and Jose Altuve's three-hit, two-RBI performance.
Trammell's home run came in the fifth inning, a 388-foot shot over the right-field wall and his sixth of the season, stretching the Astros' lead to 6-2. Earlier in the inning, Altuve drove in Yordan Alvarez with an RBI single that deflected off the glove of Blue Jays third baseman Kazuma Okamoto and stayed in play. Altuve added another hit to center field in the seventh.
Hayden Wesneski worked six strong innings for Houston, helping the Astros bounce back from a recent loss. Toronto managed two runs but could not keep pace with the Astros' offense.
