President Donald Trump secretly left Turkey last month on a smaller plane than previously known, after U.S. officials received an alleged assassination threat from Iran, according to The Washington Post.
The Post reported on Monday, citing an anonymous U.S. official, that Trump boarded Air Force One in Ankara on July 8 in view of television cameras, but then transferred to a smaller C-32A aircraft that flew him to Britain. The transfer was done with the help of a catering container attached to the plane, which ferried him to the second aircraft.
The move was staged to conceal his departure from the media and some officials, who were led to believe Trump was still on Air Force One. The reported threat from Iran prompted the unusual security measures.
