The bill would impose fresh sanctions on countries and entities that purchase Russian oil, a move aimed at tightening economic pressure on Moscow. It also includes provisions relating to Iran. According to the Times of India, India could face tariffs over its purchases of Russian and Iranian oil under the new measure. The Senate's approval was described as a smooth passage, with the bill moving quickly toward the House for consideration.
