India's Private Space Sector Set for Historic Rocket Launch
By TrendingWire Newsroom
India's private space industry is gearing up for a major milestone. Skyroot Aerospace, a Hyderabad-based startup, plans to launch the country's first privately developed orbital-class rocket before August 4. Named Vikram-1, the rocket is designed to carry small satellites into orbit. This launch marks a significant step for India's growing private space sector, which has been expanding rapidly since the government opened space activities to private companies in 2020. India has already achieved notable feats in space exploration, including missions to Mars, the Moon, and the Sun, as well as a successful ocean satellite launch. The Vikram-1 launch will demonstrate the capability of Indian private firms to build and launch rockets, potentially reducing costs and increasing access to space. The rocket is named after Dr. Vikram Sarabhai, the father of India's space program. Skyroot Aerospace has already successfully tested its rocket engines and suborbital vehicle. The upcoming launch is eagerly awaited by the global space community as a sign of India's growing role in the commercial space market.
