India’s First Private Orbital Rocket Successfully Launches Payloads
By TrendingWire Newsroom
India achieved a historic milestone as Skyroot Aerospace successfully launched the country's first privately developed orbital-class rocket, named Vikram-1. The mission, called ‘Mission Aagaman,’ which means arrival, lifted off and placed several payloads into low-Earth orbit. Among the cargo were four technology demonstration satellites and postcards sent by space enthusiasts. This achievement marks India's entry into an elite group of nations with private orbital launch capability, showcasing the country's growing role in commercial spaceflight. Vikram-1 features advanced carbon-composite structures and a restartable liquid-fuelled module, demonstrating key technologies for future missions. The successful launch validates the capabilities of private companies in India's space sector, following reforms that opened the industry to non-governmental players. Skyroot Aerospace's accomplishment paves the way for more frequent and affordable access to space, boosting India's ambitions in satellite deployment and space exploration. The mission also highlights the potential for Indian firms to compete globally in the launch services market.
