The mother and widow of PC Andrew Harper have criticised the government after two of his killers remained eligible for early release under a revised prison overcrowding plan.
PC Harper's mother said she was bitterly disappointed, while his widow accused Andy Burnham of betrayal.
The government revised its plan to tackle prison overcrowding after pressure from MPs and victims, but domestic abusers and killers could still be released early.
Defending the policy, the government said it must act on the conviction in the case, which was manslaughter, and cannot entirely exclude people convicted of manslaughter.
PC Andrew Harper was killed in the line of duty. Two of his killers remain eligible for early release.
