Donald Trump is facing a lawsuit from two media organizations over a new paid service that grants subscribers quicker access to his Truth Social posts. The Freedom of the Press Foundation and The Intercept Media filed the lawsuit in federal court on Wednesday, alleging the service violates the First and Fifth Amendments.
According to the complaint, the service is an application programming interface, or API, that allows subscribers to pay up to $100,000 a month to receive faster access to Trump's announcements. The plaintiffs argue that this arrangement is problematic because, during Trump's second term as president, many of his 9,000 to 11,000 posts and reposts on Truth Social were not accompanied by official White House statements.
