Mahershala Ali has confirmed he will not star in Marvel’s long-delayed “Blade” reboot, saying the studio never truly wanted to make it. In an interview with GQ, the two-time Oscar winner said that if Marvel had been committed, the film would have been made. He pointed out that he was under contract and that the studio has billions of dollars at its disposal. Ali was announced as the vampire-hunting anti-hero in a surprise appearance at Comic-Con in 2019, but production stalled for years. Marvel hired director Bassam Tariq and later Yann Demange for the project, yet Ali never appeared in the role. He added that he is ready to move on from questions about the movie.
