Scott Hylands, the Canadian actor best known for playing Detective Kevin "OB" O'Brien on the 1980s cop drama "Night Heat," has died. He was 83.
Hylands died on Wednesday, July 29, his son Luke Hylands, a cinematographer, announced on social media, remembering him as a "forever hero and best friend."
Before landing the role on "Night Heat" — which aired on Canada's CTV and CBS in the U.S. — Hylands built a career playing villains, including an unhinged ex-boyfriend in the 1972 film "Daddy's Gone a-Hunting." He also appeared in the TV series "Fargo."
His son's statement described Hylands as a husband, father, actor, director, writer, storyteller and friend.
