Police in Varanasi have registered an FIR against opposition MPs Rahul Gandhi, Pappu Yadav and Awadhesh Prasad over a skit staged in Parliament that allegedly insulted Sanatan Dharma.
The case follows complaints filed by seers and lawyers who said their religious sentiments were hurt by the protest enacted by the INDIA bloc leaders. The skit, performed on Friday, was meant to highlight alleged embezzlement of Ram Temple donations and the police action against protesters during the July 20 Parliament march.
The complaints were filed after allegations of financial irregularities in temple donations came to light. The complainants have sought legal action against the leaders involved in the demonstration.
