Eli Roth's new horror film 'Ice Cream Man' has split critics, with one outlet praising it as an over-the-top bloodfest and another dismissing it as a movie for diehard slasher fans only. The film centers on a demonic ice cream vendor whose treats turn children into homicidal zombies. Roth, known for directing 'Hostel', said he wanted to blend the tone of 'Home Alone' with the brutality of 'Hostel'. He spent 20 years trying to bring the character to the screen, hoping to add the Ice Cream Man to the ranks of iconic horror villains like Jason, Freddy and Michael Myers. The film is unrated, according to Deadline, which praised it as a gory homage to classic slasher movies. The Hollywood Reporter, however, was far less enthusiastic, saying the movie will appeal to slasher devotees and absolutely no one else. The reviews do not mention a release date, but the film is now playing in theaters or on streaming platforms.
