Spider-Man: Brand New Day is shattering box office records. The film crossed $1 billion at the global box office on Monday, becoming the second-fastest movie ever to reach that milestone after 2019's Avengers: Endgame. Its worldwide total now stands at $1.052 billion.
At the U.S. box office, the Sony and Marvel Studios release posted the biggest Monday ever, earning more than $46 million. Sony has not yet reported an official number, but the Monday gross is well ahead of the previous record.
The film, directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, opened with $360 million in the U.S., the largest opening weekend in the country's history.
It also set a record in the Middle East, generating $18.4 million in its opening weekend, the highest-ever debut for the region. The United Arab Emirates contributed $7.4 million of that total.
Additionally, Amazon has already listed the movie for pre-order on DVD, Blu-ray, and as a collector's edition 4K steelbook set, even though no physical release date has been announced.
