Police Crackdown Alleged as Activists Denied Access to Sonam Wangchuk
By TrendingWire Newsroom
Climate activists protesting in Delhi have accused the police of cracking down on their demonstration, claiming they were prevented from meeting activist Sonam Wangchuk. Abhijeet Dipke, founder of the group Climate Justice Party (CJP), said that the Delhi police only allowed him to reach the protest site after Wangchuk had been moved to Safdarjung Hospital. The protesters allege that they were denied access to Wangchuk, a prominent climate activist from Ladakh, during the demonstration. Police have not yet commented on the allegations. The incident has sparked tensions, with protesters demanding an explanation for the police actions. Wangchuk's status and the reason for his hospitalization remain unclear. The CJP has called for a fair investigation into the matter. Activists continue to gather at the site, voicing their concerns over the treatment of their colleague.
