DKS said he would seek another date for discussions. Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu has decided to approach the Supreme Court in the matter.
The deferral comes amid protests over the river's water sharing. The dispute has a long history. Archived records show that in the mid-1980s, the then Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.G. Ramachandran repeatedly sent senior ministers to Karnataka to seek the release of Cauvery water to protect paddy crops in the delta region. These past diplomatic efforts reflect the decades-long struggle between the two neighbouring states over the river's waters.
The talks between DKS and Vijay have been rescheduled, though no new date has been announced. Tamil Nadu's planned move to the Supreme Court indicates it is seeking legal recourse to press its demand for water release.
