The Jharkhand government resumed talks with student protesters on Sunday after three days of inconclusive meetings, with a minister saying 98% of their demands had been met. However, protesters have vowed to continue their stir until a CBI probe is ordered into the recruitment exam irregularities.
Chief Minister Hemant Soren, speaking at the Jharkhand Adivasi Mahotsav in Ranchi, said strictest action would be taken against those responsible for the irregularities and that the individuals involved had already been identified. He also asked students not to be misguided by political parties.
Among the demands already accepted is the cancellation of the JPSC exam. The government has also promised a CID probe and fast-track courts to handle the cases, but protesters are insisting on a CBI investigation instead.
