Undrafted rookie quarterback Haynes King ran in on the final play to give the Carolina Panthers a 33-30 victory over the Arizona Cardinals in the Hall of Fame Game on Thursday night, kicking off the NFL preseason.
King, who went undrafted, led a comeback for the Panthers in the annual preseason opener. His last-second touchdown secured the win.
The Cardinals played without rookie running back Jeremiyah Love, the No. 3 overall pick, who did not appear in the game. Love's NFL debut will have to wait.
The Hall of Fame Game is traditionally the first preseason contest of the NFL season, and this year's matchup lived up to its opening-night billing with a dramatic finish.
