The incident injured 17 passengers and crew members, according to the Times of India, while Hindustan Times reported that ten passengers and four crew members were taken for medical checks.
The flight, AI2379, was traveling through monsoon weather that may have caused the sudden jolt. Passengers described being thrown from their seats during the terrifying ordeal. One cabin crew member sustained severe injuries, while others had minor wounds.
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation has launched a thorough investigation into the incident.
