A funeral director in Hull has been jailed for 20 years for leaving dozens of bodies, including a miscarried baby, to rot in his mortuary and giving bereaved families the wrong ashes.
Robert Bush, owner of Legacy Independent Funeral Services, pleaded guilty to 67 offences spanning 12 years and affecting hundreds of families, including 30 counts of preventing a lawful and decent burial.
More than 80 loved ones spoke in court about the horrors of learning about his crimes, among them the mother of a miscarried baby. Families said no sentence was long enough for what he did.
Bush's actions left families grieving without proper remains and added to their suffering. The case has drawn widespread attention to the abuse of trust in the funeral industry.
