Ellar Coltrane, the former child actor who starred in the 2014 coming-of-age film Boyhood, has traded Hollywood for a life of manual labor and firefighting in a remote location. Now 31, Coltrane says he lives "in the middle of nowhere" and misses collaborating on independent films.
Boyhood was filmed over 12 years, following Coltrane's character from childhood to adulthood. More than a decade after its release, Coltrane has left acting behind and now works as a firefighter while doing manual labor.
In a recent reflection on his post-Hollywood life, Coltrane expressed that he misses the creative collaboration of working on independent movies, despite having moved on to a quieter, more isolated existence.
