A Delhi court on Monday acquitted Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, the former chief of the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI), and Vinod Tomar in a sexual harassment case brought by six women wrestlers. The verdict, delivered after a two-year trial, clears both men of all charges.
The case stemmed from an FIR registered by Delhi Police after a series of protests by women wrestlers at Jantar Mantar in 2023. The wrestlers alleged that Singh had sexually harassed them during his time as WFI chief. Several prominent athletes, including Sakshi Malik, Vinesh Phogat, Bajrang Punia and Sangeeta Phogat, joined the protests, which continued for months in New Delhi and demanded Singh's arrest.
Singh, a leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party, welcomed the court's decision, saying that not even one of the allegations against him was proved.
