A donor heart and lungs were transported across Hyderabad in just 25 minutes using the city's Metro network, covering a distance of 14 kilometres. The organs were moved from CARE Hospitals in Gachibowli to KIMS Hospitals on Minister Road, Secunderabad, a journey that spanned 13 Metro stations from Raidurg to Rasoolpura.
The rapid transfer was facilitated by the Metro system, which allowed the organs to bypass road traffic and reach their destination quickly. The distance of 14 km, which would normally take considerably longer by road, was covered in less than half an hour, according to reports.
This operation marks an example of using public infrastructure for critical medical logistics. The organs, which came from a donor, were transported for transplantation.
