Every member of the progressive congressional group known as the Squad has endorsed Abdul El-Sayed in Michigan's Democratic Senate primary. El-Sayed, a former public health official, is running as a progressive and has distanced himself from the Democratic Socialists of America. The race pits him against a more moderate member of Congress, and divisions over Israel have shaped the contest, along with a series of high-profile endorsements. Children's television personality Ms. Rachel has also backed El-Sayed, along with Representative Cori Bush and ten other progressive candidates. She told her five million followers that she supports candidates who protect children, and said that no one needs a billion dollars. The endorsements come just days before the primary.
