Bob Iger and Joshua Kushner have agreed to buy the Los Angeles Lakers, in a deal that values the NBA franchise at a record-breaking price. The former Disney CEO and the venture capital founder announced the purchase Wednesday. Most reports put the valuation at $12.5 billion, while Bloomberg says the price is more than $12 billion. The sale comes less than a year after Mark Walter acquired a majority stake in the Lakers from the Buss family for about $10 billion. Kushner and Iger described themselves as lifelong NBA fans and said they were deeply honored to become stewards of one of the most iconic sports franchises in the world. They also expressed respect for the leadership of Jerry and Jeanie Buss. The Lakers are one of the most successful teams in NBA history.
