Hong Kong filmmaker Ann Hui has been named the recipient of this year's Camellia Award at the Busan International Film Festival. The award honors filmmakers who have made significant contributions to elevating the status of women in the film industry. Hui was a leading figure in the Hong Kong New Wave, working as a director, screenwriter, and producer.
Separately, the Gramado Film Festival will host the First International Meeting of Cities on Aug. 12-14 at the Gramado Film Market. The gathering will bring together municipal authorities from Medellín, Rio de Janeiro, Porto Alegre, Maricá, and Gramado, as well as representatives of Brazilian and Ibero-American organizations, to discuss the creative economy, particularly the audiovisual sector.
