The Television Academy has announced the winners of the 78th Emmy Awards in the juried categories of animation, costume and innovation in emerging media programming, giving several shows early honors ahead of the main ceremony.
Peacock's "The Traitors" and Fox's "The Masked Singer" were both named winners for outstanding costumes. In animation, "Eyes of Wakanda" and "Star Wars: Visions" were among those recognized for outstanding individual achievement. Adult Swim's "Genndy Tartakovsky's Primal" has already become a two-time Emmy winner this year, according to the announcement.
The juried awards are decided by panels of industry professionals rather than the full voting membership. Winners in these categories were revealed in a list issued by the Television Academy on Tuesday.
Other juried winners were spread across the three categories, with the academy recognizing achievements in costume design, animation artistry and emerging media. The full list of winners includes programs from streaming platforms and broadcast networks alike.
These early winners will be celebrated at the 78th Emmy Awards ceremony, which honors the best in television from the past year. The juried categories are traditionally announced ahead of the main event, allowing the academy to highlight craft and technical achievements that might otherwise be overlooked.
More winners in other juried categories are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
