The Lok Sabha passed the Mines and Minerals Amendment Bill without debate as opposition MPs stormed into the Well of the House, shouting slogans. Jagdambika Pal, who was chairing the proceedings, urged the opposition to maintain decorum. The bill was introduced and passed shortly after, amid heavy protests.
Separately, the House referred the FCRA Bill to a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) after similar demonstrations. The committee has been ordered to submit its report by the last day of the first week of the 2026 Winter Session. While moving the reference, Minister Kiren Rijiju challenged opposition parties to name any provision in the bill that discriminates against minorities.
The opposition's continued sloganeering disrupted the House proceedings on both matters.
