Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said more than ₹1,000 crore is likely needed to rehabilitate families affected by the recent floods in the state. A survey to assess the damage will continue until August 30 and is expected to cover 50,000 to 60,000 families in the Upper districts, which were hit hardest by the latest flooding.
Sarma also said that 72 social media influencers from Assam and other places have raised funds for flood relief.
In a separate development, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai announced ₹5 crore in aid for flood-hit Assam. Sai spoke to Sarma over the phone to take stock of the situation arising from the floods.
