Jayden Daniels has sent a cease-and-desist letter to LSU, demanding the university stop using his name, image and likeness in a dispute over the No. 5 jersey. The Washington Commanders quarterback and Heisman Trophy winner took action after LSU gave the jersey to incoming freshman defensive back DJ Pickett.
Ole Miss coach Lane Kiffin said Pickett was promised the No. 5 during recruiting. Daniels and his family feel profoundly disrespected by LSU, according to reports. An attorney for Daniels stated that the school can no longer use his name, image or likeness.
The issue may extend beyond the jersey number. Yahoo Sports reported that LSU's former staff appeared to overpromise on things it could not deliver. The cease-and-desist letter was first reported by ESPN.
